The Fountain

I have been excited for this movie since I first heard about it (probably two years ago), but I missed it in the theaters – and finally got around to watching it – twice – in the last two weeks.

Ok, so it is really strange, and concerns an awkward bubble filled spaceship future (pictured) and also some Spanish conquistadors. Also, turns out I don’t really like Rachel Weisz. But apart from all this it is really nice to look at, and I find the storyline quite interesting (as it seems to me we missed an interesting 500 years between the present and our bubbly tree filled future). And this makes me want more. The real moral here is that I probably just really like Aronofsky.

(Personal interpretation / Spoilers: Tommy solves death and present Tommy & Future Tommy are the same person. Mayan Tommy is a hallucination/memory issues – I mean come on it has been 500 years. The tattoos as well as well as the repeated memories of 2000, and the altered ending of 1500 support)

It’s been awhile since I saw it (I saw it in theaters) but I seem to remember thinking that neither the past nor the future were real, just metaphors. But I’d have to rewatch it again to back that argument up. /me queues it on netflix
