As I really liked Tom Twyker’s Perfume (which it turns out I never actually posted – good work me), I thought I might also enjoy Run Lola Run, and I did, but not nearly as much. It wasn’t nearly as impressive in scope, and while it was peppy and fun it left much to be desired (it was one of those situations where there were a bunch of things had I been in charge I would have done differently – I know arrogant).
The biggest issue it needed either a more concentrated or the inclusion of many more diverse styles – it was mostly consistent but had a few really strange lapses in judgment – as evidenced by the shot above which is entirely uncharacteristic of the film. Also a little more meaning, and a little less repetitiveness – for those of you who have seen the movie, I can’t stand that device – would have been appreciated.
So while this is worth seeing, your time might be better spent elsewhere (like watching Perfume again).
